There are countless ways to prepare Sangria - typically a mix of wine, brandy and fresh fruits, served over ice. This recipe helps you put together a basic Sangria recipe, and then gives ideas of how to expand and embellish from there.
Directions:
Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon and orange into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and add sugar and brandy. Chill overnight. Add ginger ale or club soda just before serving. If you'd like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice.
Get creative! Some additional ingredients you can try adding: sliced strawberries, peaches, limes, handful of fresh blueberries, raspberries, kiwi, canned pineapple, fruit flavored brandy or rum, lemonade or limeade, citrus soda pop or lime juice.
Sangria Blanco: You can also try making this recipe using your favorite bottle of white wine instead of red. If you do use white wine I would suggest adding fruit like peaches, nectarines, kiwi fruit and maybe some pear flavored brandy - see what kind of fruit flavors are used to describe the wine and enhance those flavors with fruits and flavored brandy or rum.
