Oregonians have been brewing their own beer for over 150 years, and the tradition is stronger than ever. With the Pacific Northwest being the world’s largest producer of hops, it is no surprise that Oregon has become well known for its microbreweries and local beers. The state’s first brew pub opened in 1985, and within five years Portland had more brew pubs and craft breweries per capita than any other U.S. city, leading to the nicknames “America’s Microbrew Capital” and “Beervana.”
