The monks, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Trappist Abbey in Yamhill County, Oregon, make terrific old-style fruitcake, and their recipe reflects a deep, abiding respect for the principles of old-style fruitcakes. It's dense and dark, soaked in fine brandy, and aged for 3 months. The Beaverton Bakery has been offering hand-decorated cookies and cakes to adoring Oregonians since 1925.
